Is the water warm enough?
The lake is cold even in summer. These are the UC Davis buoy numbers for the middle of the lake. A sheltered cove near the rocks can feel warmer.

How much sand will you get?
Lake level changes these beaches more than any others. A lower lake means a wider strip of sand and more rock.

Hidden Beach
This is the closest walk-in beach to town. Take the East Shore Trail from the Incline Village end and look for the paths down to the rocks about a mile in. It has granite boulders, clear water and little sand.
Chimney Beach
A stone chimney from an old cabin gave the beach its name. Park in the Chimney Beach lot on SR 28 ($12 flat, 7 AM to 7 PM) and walk down the trail. The beach faces west, so afternoons are bright and sunsets are the draw.
Secret Cove
Secret Cove is the next cove south of Chimney Beach, about 0.45 miles on. It has its own small lot of 31 spaces, $12 flat. Pack out everything.
