The rules we use

• Beach: Good at 70°F or warmer, rain below 30%, and wind at most 15 mph. Cloud cover must be below 70% when known. Poor below 55°F or at 60% rain.
• Hike: Good from 40°F to 85°F, gusts below 25 mph, and rain below 30%. Poor at 95°F or hotter, below 20°F, gusts at 40 mph or more, or rain at 70% or more.
• Paddle: Good with wind at most 8 mph, gusts at most 12 mph, and rain below 30%. Poor with wind at 15 mph or more, gusts at 20 mph or more, or rain at 60% or more. We use each day's highest wind and gust.
• Ski: We use each open resort's forecast. Good with at least 2 inches of snow, gusts below 40 mph, and a high at most 40°F. Poor with gusts at 40 mph or more, or rain at 60% or more and a high above 34°F. Strong gusts may hold lifts. If both resorts report they are not open, the call is Not open yet. Missing status gives No call.

Other weather gets Fair. A missing needed number gives No call. Missing cloud cover is ignored for the beach. Good beats Fair. A tie goes to the first day. For skiing, we pick the better call from the open resorts.
