The three things to know
- The Snowflake Lodge design contract passed 3-0 on Sept 23. It pays CCY Architects $811,332 to draw the first 30% of the plans. Trustee Tulloch abstained.
- IVGID says it is current on its state money reports. The board expects to leave state fiscal watch this fall, when the 2026 audit is done.
- The sewer effluent pipeline finished early and under budget, staff told the board on Sept 9.
Wed, Sept 23: Snowflake Lodge design
Draft (from IVGID's meeting synopsis; the minutes are not approved yet). The board approved the design contract 3-0. Trustee Tulloch abstained. The district's lawyer said he should do so if people saw a conflict. Chair Tonking was excused.
- What it buys. A design phase of 26 to 28 weeks, with about 3,500 hours of work from eight firms. The plan is a lodge of about 11,600 square feet. It has up to 225 seats inside, plus decks of up to 4,300 square feet for up to 225 more guests.
- What it does not do. Staff said this phase is drawings and talks with the public. It does not promise a build or a way to pay.
- What people said. Most public comment was about the lodge. Some said it costs too much. Others said it is long overdue.
What it means for you: you will not ski to a new lodge soon. Diamond Peak skiers, pass holders and IVGID parcel owners all have a stake, because fees fund the district.
Also on Sept 23: a housing developer told the board that Nevada law (AB 540) lets workforce housing serve people who earn up to 150% of the area's middle income. The board took no action. See housing in Incline.
Wed, Sept 9: fiscal watch and the pipeline
Draft (from IVGID's meeting synopsis; the minutes are not approved yet). All five trustees were there.
- Fiscal watch. Trustee Homan said the district is current on every state report. The state wants it off watch this fall.
- Good news. Staff said the effluent pipeline, which carries treated sewer water out of the basin, finished early and under budget. The skate park upgrade is done too.
- Votes. The board approved a $200,000 order for computers. It signed a new deal with the Incline Tahoe Foundation to raise money for projects.
Wed, Aug 12: the last meeting with approved minutes
Final (checked against the approved minutes). Every vote below was 4-0. Chair Tonking and Trustees Jezycki, Noble and Homan cast the votes.
- Trash. The board approved a 10 year contract with Reno Disposal Co., which does business as Incline Sanitation Co. It adds wildlife-resistant containers, a 5% cap on yearly rate increases and scales at the transfer station. See trash and recycling.
- Trash rules. The board adopted updates to its trash ordinance to match the new contract.
- Burnt Cedar beach. The board told staff to buy and install a camera system. It also approved up to $25,000 as a reward after trees were poisoned at the beach.
